Trout Fishing on the Deerfield River with Eric Gass

Last week I went in search of trout on the Deerfield River. Nestled into a beautiful valley in Western MA the Deerfield is a great river to float or to wade — you just have to be sure to hit the flow right. This day I went with my good friend Rob Robillard (the writer behind A Concord Carpenter and The Boston Globe handyman columnist) — someone who loves fly fishing, and the outdoors, but is busy enough that he doesn’t get to do nearly enough of it.

We hired Eric Gass of GSO Outfitting as our guide. Eric is a great guy. I’ve been shooting with him before — he’s great on the water and in the field.

Here are some pics from the day — sun, trout, local beer, and good laughs. Can’t beat it.

  1. Eric is a great guy and a great guide I’ve been fishing with him several times on the Deerfield as well as some other waters , looks like a typical great day w GSO and our beatiful resource of the Deerfield river – good luck on the Gaspe trip.
    Peace
