Cape Cod Bonito & Striped Bass Fishing

Bonito. Striped bass. And bluefish. When it comes to this late summer / early fall tripled header, there’s nothin bettah!

Last weekend off Cape Cod we found just this: surface feeds early that sustained themselves for much of the day, rotating through species. Bass and blues were mixed in, hard to the bank. Bonito were exploding in quick bursts all morning. Birds were working, and the fish were biting. I didn’t get any photos of the blues for some reason — maybe I didn’t want them to bite the lens?

Yet another experience to confirm my love of fall fly fishing on Cape Cod.

Thanks Barry for hosting!

Atlantic bonito — a true beauty.

Two faces you don’t want to meet in a dark alley as a small bait fish.
