This will be old news for some, but I’m pleased to share the news that the generous folks at Concord Outfitters are hosting my dad for a book signing and talk this Thursday, March 7th. The central topic will be the release of the second (and final!) volume of his book on world’s great Grand Cascapedia River. While I edited all of Volume I, I only edited portions of Volume II, but am immensely proud of the work he’s put into and the beautiful, exhaustive product he’s created. In addition, he will also have copies of other books of his, including both limited editions and his slender collection of essays entitled 8 By Carmichael – a favorite of mine.
A number of friends will be joining us on Thursday night at the shop. I hope to see you there, too.

The Grand Cascapedia River: A History (Volume II)
We are thrilled to announce that world famous fly fishing author, Hoagy Carmichael, will be at the shop on Thursday, March 7th from 4pm-8pm to give a presentation and sign copies of his new book: The Grand Cascapedia River: A History (Volume II).
The history of the Grand Cascapedia River continues in Vol. II taking up from the mid-1930s where Vol. I ended. It covers in detail how the great river almost went back into the hands of the Canadian government during the Great Depression, how it was saved and by who, and then how the pools were reallocated, much as they are today.
Hoagy has salmon fished all over the world and is widely regarded as one of the foremost authorities on salmon fishing and Vol. I in this series was an instant classic. Vol. II picks up where Vol. I left off and is sure to be on any serious fly fisherman’s bookshelf. Come on down to meet one of fly fishing’s true legends, enjoy a great presentation on salmon fishing, pick up a great new book, and have him sign a copy for you.
