My good friend Anton Chiono, who you may recognize from the postcard from New Zealand photos, recently sent me this photo of him with an absolute beauty. He wrote:
“It was perfect–a warm late-October day, skating a Bomber on a glassy glide, a savage take and a wonderful fight–replete with cartwheels and runs… She was a lovely wild fish, 38″x 20″, and probably around 20 pounds… The reel was made by Joe Saracione, a contemporary maker based out of Sandy, Oregon, and was on a 14′ #9 T&T. It was a good day.”
I’d say! For the Ronde, that’s perhaps a once in a lifetime fish. A beautiful fish, and a great photo. Thanks for sharing, Anton!
October needs to be a 90-day month.
Ha. Indeed, Bruce!
