Fly Tying Through the Blizzards

With storm after storm raging outside, I’ve been spending some good time at my fly tying desk. I love this time of winter, for the quiet hours spent either tying favorite patterns or experimenting with new ones. I’ve been doing quite a bit of the latter, with some good results: I’m tying new tube patterns, based off of a pattern I saw a Swede tie with Arctic Runner, that he swore was extremely effective. I’ve also been tying some of the old standbys — Gurglers.

In two weeks, I have a session lined up with Dave Skok. Looking forward to that. In the meantime, we’ll get through another blizzard, and another few patterns.

Stay warm!

  1. I love the tube flies. Was this the guy from the Marlboro Show? I bought some of that “runner” but haven’t dared use it yet. I’m getting quite fond of the tube flies, until I have to melt the heads. Have fun tying!
