This past weekend, I went out chasing false albacore off Cape Cod with my dad and a friend. The morning lit up with albies immediately, and stayed pretty strong all day, with only a brief pause around slack tide. I’m not always one to count, but I think we boated close to 20 albies. What a day — and what a beautiful day!
I’ve heard people talking about how blue seems to be a trigger for them this year. I can’t confirm that — I found albie whores with some chartreuse worked early, and then they got onto much smaller bait.
Here are some photos from the day.

An early screamer!

The colors. So amazing.

This poor fella swallowed the fly. I felt bad.

A friend tied this up for me — thought I’d try it out!
