Over on his blog, Atlantic Salmon Flies, Ben Bilello — talented classic salmon fly tier, guide, and writer — recently shared some great tips about the upcoming Connecticut broodstock salmon season. Bilello approached the broodstock season with enthusiasm: he’s no purist about only fishing native Atlantics. In a state, and a country, where there are currently no Atlantic salmon runs of sufficient size to support a sport fishery, I can’t blame him. Indeed, I hope to join him this fall.
