This map tries to compile all of the operating fly fishing stores across New England. If you know of any more, and can validate their being open, drop me a line! Happy to add them. See below for some of my favorites:

Hey Ben, You should add the Evening Sun Fly shop in Pepperell, MA. Great shop with local water seminars, fly tying classes & guests, plus excellent prices. http://eveningsunflyshop.com/

  2. Wicked-Fly says:

Yo you should also consider adding Capefish Clothing Co. in Hamilton MA and Fishing the Cape in West Harwich MA. And Orvis Boston closed, thought I saw an article on this blog about it.

    • Benjamin Carmichael says:

Thanks for the tip! And my apologies for the slow response (bought a house and started a new job). I’ve amended the map to reflect the Orvis change. But CapeFish doesn’t show up in a Google Maps search. I’ll email the store to suggest they claim their business and have it added to Google maps. Thanks again! Best, Ben

My husband operates the Rangeley Region Sport Shop in Rangeley, Maine. We carry Simms, Sage, Redington, Rio, Renzetti, Dyna-King, and more. All that is needed for fly fishing and tying.

A couple of suggestions….In Plymouth, MA there is the Rod Builders Workshop…he has goofy hours and is closed during the winter but they have some nice fly fishing stuff for salt. Kittery Trading post has a large fly fishing/tying supply and I didn’t see Rangeley Region Sport Shop listed….certainly a must stop place if in that neck of the woods.

Art: A great little shop. However, my site only covers New England shops; were I to expand that, I don’t know where I’d stop. But I enjoyed my last visit, and hope to be back again soon. Best, Ben

    Hi Ben:

Dover Marine in Dover, NH has a good selection of fly tying materials. Their fly fishing gear is marginal, however. I saw that someone mentioned Kittery Trading Post. They have a sizable selection of gear, flies, and fly tying materials.

Love your site and just purchased your dad’s river book volume one.

Also, do you fish in South Boston? I live near Castle Island and I’m looking forward to trying out my 8 wt. switch rod that I got on sale.

    • Benjamin Carmichael says:

Mary Ann: Thanks for the suggestions! I’ve added Dover Marine, and meant to add Kittery ages ago. Also glad to hear you like my dad’s books.

I do fish in South Boston occasionally. Hope to see you out there! Best, Ben
